It’s the first day of a brand new year, so let me start by wishing you all…
The last week of 2018 I run the tenth edition of my Top 2000 blogparty and MAN-OH-MAN was it a party! There were a lot of newbies playing along and the submissions get better every year… I, myself, played along also and I started creating on the day that the Top 2000 list was announced. I need to, in order to save time to handle all the submissions that come in during the Top 2000 week.
This year I choose to create with the song titles only, and not so much with what the songs are about. Together all the titles picutre my story of the past year – in short: we lived in a creepy apartment building and almost gave up hope that we could ever get out of there, but in March we got the change to move to a beautiful little apartment in the medievel city centre of Middelburg… It was such fun to use this story and put it in songtitles and picture it on spreads! After I finished all the spreads, I created the first (index) page and the last (closing) page in my self-bound journal. Here’s the art journal in it’s full glory.
Monkees – Daydream Believer
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Carry On
Coldplay – Up & Up
War on Drugs – Thinking Of A Place
Daft Punk ft. Pharrell Williams – Get Lucky
Aretha Franklin – I Say A Little Prayer
Leonard Cohen – Hallelujah / Linkin Park – In The End
Last page: a pocket in which I keep the Top 2000 list
I also organized a live ‘Top 2000 creative gathering.’ A small group of ladies (the apartment isn’t that big…) came together to create and we had so much fun!
And now that the New Year has begun, it’s all quiet on my blog and in my atelier. I am going to use this first week to work on ‘loose ends’ like the last pages in my 2018-Chronicles, meditating on my word of the year and, last but not least, give some attention to my beloved, who didn’t see much of me last week.
I’ll be back ‘full force’ next week, at least that’s the plan. And to you all out there reading this blog, thank you for following and inspiring me. I wish you a beautiful start of 2019. Let’s make this year count!
