Mother & son: collaboration project

November 28, 2022 By Marit 3 Comments

The last theme we worked with was “digital work” and that was really difficult for me (see this post)   I don’t like working digitally on ‘art’ at all and I wasn’t satisfied about the outcome either so,  elaborating on that fact, we came up with our next theme: “do something creative (ie ‘analogue’) inspired by the previous digital work.” I found it way more comfortable to get my paper and ink out! My son came up with two lovely line drawings but also (with that “brain for A.I.” of his)  with ‘bonus images’ that were again digital but I liked this extra’s so much that I show them also (he explains how he did it with the images, so read on.)

Enough talk now, here’s what we did

Art made by me (Marit)

the digital image that served as a source of inspiration

and the art I made inspired by the above

Art made by Nout

And now, for the ‘extra’s…
“using the pictures that me and mom created during the previous round, I tried to describe them as closely as possible, and fed those prompts into the DALL-E system of OpenAI. This is an Artificial Intelligence generating images based on textual prompts. It generated images of a man and a shell on the beach, and another take on a woman with cartographic fashion. Those images were created by the system and with textual input from me.”

Textual input into the program: “My granddad sitting on a shell on a sandy beach in the sunset, photograph”

Previous made digital art by Nout

Textual input into the program: “A painting of an old lady wearing a vintage cartographic map as clothing”.

And as an extra extra… I visited Nout last weekend and he showed me how that AI program worked…

his textual input “A drawing of a mom with purple hair relaxing on a long grey couch with wooly socks, with candles on a small table in front of her”

Ain’t that cute?!
Thanks for stopping by. We’d like it when you leave us a comment. Thanks!
