Oak tree

August 3, 2018 By Marit 1 Comment

Goodmorning on another sunny and warm day in the Netherlands.

Last week I posted a picture and a haiku of the “Isabella passage” and wondered where the name came from. Well, I did some research and it is most likely that the name refers to the Catholic Saint Isabella. Middelburg is an ancient city full of history, monuments, old buildings and stories. It’s pretty interesting to dive into that and learn more about this town I live in… (for photos and a ‘tourist walk’ go to this blogpost that I wrote in May)

The Isabella passage is just around the corner but today I kept it even closer to home… this big Oak tree stands in a neighbour garden and the photo was taken from my balcony.

Oak tree

Kijk, de oude Eik
vangt het laatste zonlicht van
deze mooie dag
Look, the old Oak tree
catches the last sunrays of
this beautiful day.

I submit today’s haiku to Recuerda Mi Corazon where our lovely hostess Rebecca brings us all together to share haiku on this Friday event Haiku my Heart.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
Find a tree to sit under.
Enjoy!

How interesting regarding the name, history is so fascinating but I find as I grow older the harder it is to hold historical facts and figures within my mind hee hee!!
What a magnificent Oak Tree, I hope it is providing you with some shade during these extremely sunny days? We have grey clouds today, very hot but no sigh of rain sadly. Maybe we will be blessed during the night.
Catch you in the week lovely, have a super weekend.
    Hugs Tracey xx
