This will be the last ‘regular post’ of the year ’cause this blog will be getting ready for the TOP 2000 BLOG PARTY that will run in the last week of the year… The Top 2000 musical list for this year will be announced at the end of today and from that moment on, I (and all other participants) can start creating things inspired to the music and submit their art. Broadcasting (and the blogparty) start on Christmas day. It is THE most creative and musical blogparty of the year, it is a free event and you are invited!
This morning is the calm before the storm and I use these hours to write this post and show you some last things before I dive into creating to the music. First, here’s how my desk looks right now.
And see those Eucalyptus branches in the window sill? I put a vase with Christmas branches (white branches with little lights) and Eucalyptus in the living room and these were left overs that I did not want to throw away.
I kept on creating in my Chronicles art journal while I had a cold… it lead to this spread
The Chronicles of Marit 2018 – Week 49
I am a member of the Dutch, online Art Journal/Mixed Media Community Creatief Contact and when Jenny de Bode, the founder and ‘leader of the pack’ posted this little challenge, I decided to play along. “Draw a small rectangular or square in the size of a stamp and capture the sky… the colour and atmosphere…” I captured the sky/weather in week 50 using watercolour paint on watercolour (‘aquarel’) paper…
… and glued the piece of paper on the Chronicles spread.

I also created and send a small amount of Christmas cards to family and friends. Although I cannot send you ALL this card, my wishes are for you too…
MERRY EVERYTHING AND HAPPY ALWAYS!!!
Hope to see you at the Top 2000 party and if not, see you again in 2019.
Enjoy the holidays!
Hi Marit, some lovely pieces. I especially love the sky watercolours. So beautiful. Have a lovely Christmas, with love from us both. Hugs, Shaz #5 X

I love your mini-watercolours of the sky, Marit, and your journal page of you with a cold is just brilliant – it looks as if you’ve sneezed all over the page haha! I’ve heard of people capturing a moment in an art journal page and using it to express their feelings on a particular occasion but I’ve never seen a page like this before! You have captured just how miserable a cold can be! I hope you are feeling better now. I love your other journal page too. Thank you for your visit and I’m glad you like my little heart ornaments – they were really fun to do, and I’m looking forward to working on the little frames my hubby gave me, too.
I hope you have a lovely time over Christmas as well.
Happy WOYWW,

You always have such interesting art on your blog and those little boxes of sky are it this week! What a simple yet really lovely idea :-D. Hope your music craft session goes well, funnily enough while I adore playing music, I rarely have it on when crafting. I like the silence!!
Have a wonderful Christmas Marit and I look forward to following your adventures in 2019.
Hugs LLJ 11 xxxx

Hi Marit, I don’t know how you people do it but the Dutch are so artistic. Loving your journal. I am surprised that you don’t know the Darkroom Door stamps and I think you would really love them. Anyway…Just want to wish you the best for Christmas and hope it’s full of fun too. Thank you for all the great comments and wishing you a lovely woyww, Angela x17x
Your event sounds pretty cool! I love the cards you made…so pretty. Thanks for your earlier visit. My 12 days of Christmas tags is my own challenge that I’ve done but now I’ll go to Tim Holtz’ site and check it out. I’m sure their tags are much more detailed and fabulous. LOL Merry Christmas! Hi Marrit, I bet those branches smell amazing 🙂 ( we had those trees along the edge of our yard when I was little and we lived in California. ) Love the sky/ weather pieces too 🙂 Merry Christmas! ~Stacy #28
I love the idea of those Eucalyptus branches, such a shame to waste them. Stunning pages as always Marit you have a sheer talent for colour and flare. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas.
