Goodmorning lovely ones, on yet another Wednesday morning and MAN, do I have STUFF on my mind… I’ll drag you right in…!
Here’s my desk and instead of paper, there’s fabric and Sashiko stitching today. Not that I turned my back on paper, oh no… this stitched patchwork will be the cover of my new-to-bind art journal for next year (Chronicles 2019) and I plan to integrate the little beads in the binding so the spine will be decorated too.
I though I might start early on this ’cause it is quite a time consuming task I put on myself…
… and there’s another task I can get my teeth into today, look what stands in our hallway.
Boxes! Boxes filled with books to sort out.
Remember we bought book cases last month? We used to have a HUGE book case but there’s no room for that anymore in this apartment… these three cases will have to do and we put them in the bedroom, but we could not put books in yet. There was a problem you see…
Not a logical place for a light switch now is it? We thought so in the first place, but with book cases against that wall there’s absolutely no way anymore to turn the light off and on. However, we came up with a solution.
We bought a lamp with a pull switch! My dad installed this yesterday so now I can start sorting out the books and fill the book shelves. No atelier-time for me today. Instead I will be sitting on the bed, or on the floor, looking through the books and deciding which ones to keep and which ones I will part with… wish me luck!
Oh I love your fabric work. The random stitching is awesome. I’ve been saving some to Pinterest as it is something I want to do this winter. It is beautiful. Oh those books !! It’s a job. But memories, ideas and being done is fun. I swear light switches or outlets are never in the right place. Glad you found a fix for lighting. Wishing you luck ~~
Ik ben HEEL benieuwd naar dat mooie boek, Marit!!!!
Hi Marit, sorting books is such an enjoyable way of spending a day! Annoying when a light switch is at an awkward or unusable place. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #5 XxX
Oh good luck with the books. I just gritted my teeth yesterday and sent a whole pile of books to the charity shop. Hopefully they are on the way right now.
Love the book cover you are making, will be so good to see it when it is finished as I remember the jacket you made for your son and how beautiful it was – be nice to have something for yourself this time.
Have a good week.
Hugs Neet 10 xx
That’s a clever solution. In Texas, all of our ceilings have fans with lights and there are two pull switches on them. I suppose I could cover my light switches and use the pulls. It never occured to me that these fixtures aren’t as common in other places.
What a wonderful way to spend some time – book sorting…. or is that reading!
Love the stitching for the new journal
Dat wordt vast een hele mooie cover. Ik heb een paar maanden geleden ook zoiets gemaakt voor een van m’n altered books (Rooie). Sterkte met het uitzoeken van de boeken!

I don’t envy you the task of book sorting Marit. I hate to part with books. Love how that journal cover is going. It is so beautiful. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #17

Your stitching is beautiful – I love the colour and design of your piece. I am wishing you luck with your book sorting – I find it very hard to let a book go and have far, far too many.
Have a good week,

Good luck with your book sorting… Don’t do what I would and start reading them as you sort…!! Your stitching looks fabulous.
Ah, choosing the books involves lots of reading, flicking through, reminiscing…I bet you’ve had a lovely day! great way to overcome the light switch issue, and how fab will a wall of books look. Lovely stuff. I ike the sashiko very much..but the beads are TINY…will you even have a needle thin enough!
Those book cases look useful and the stitching looks really interesting. Hope we get to see the finished piece. Hope you have a great week and a lovely woyww, Angela x15x
I’m hoping you have now sorted your book Marit and not still sat like I would be reading through them. Such a difficult choice when having to make space for books. My dream would be to have a snug or study full wall to wall with books, my Hubby is an avid book reader. Glad the light switch problem has now been sorted.
Your sashiko book will be a beautiful space to create.
Happy woyww Tracey #3
FYI you will never have enough shelves. LOL I put one full wall of book shelves (6 units) in my new studio 2 years ago… I need more but no room LOL Thanks for stopping by this week! Creative Blessings! Kelly #28

O ja, boeken uitzoeken en dan in elk boek “even kijken” en voor je het weet zit je te lezen en bent helemaal vergeten waarom je op je achterste in de gang zit!
Komt me bekend voor !
