Tired but Satisfied!
(after the Open Atelier weekend)

December 1, 2014 By Marit 5 Comments

Last weekend was the “Open Atelier” weekend. My friends Mirjam and Lydia share a big workspace in an old schoolbuilding – where more artists have their ateliers – and they invited me to show my art as a ‘guest artist’ during the Open Atelier weekend.

The weekend was very exciting and both days were busy with lots of visitors, keen interest and I met lots of sweet and nice people. Seeing the art of the other artists also generated much inspiration and all the impressions still circle in my head. I forgot to take photos of all the classrooms/other artists’ work, but here’s a view into ‘our’ atelier.

.

My ‘corner’ (table)

Mirjam and Lydia set up a big table for me, to showcase my handbound books….
(the ‘card corner’ in the back is Lydia’s…)

Next to my table was a big showcase-closet which I used to exhibit some of my art journals.

Lydia’s corner

Lydia is a photographer who makes cards from her photos. She photographs mostly nature and landscapes, and has a beautiful ‘beach’ collection.

Mirjam’s corner

Mirjam is a ceramist. She works with different materials (clay, paper mache, paper…) and creates all kinds of things, from statues to lamps.

On this photo, from left to right: Mirjam, Levi (Mir’s son), Lydia and Cees (a sculptor who has his atelier in the schoolbuilding too.) More of Mirjam’s art can be seen in the back…

The admiration I had for the art of Edith Mulder (a sculptor who also works with felt) was mutual and so we swapped art… isn’t that great?!!! I took a quick photo from our buffet with her art on it (the felt statue on the left and the vase on the right.)

The vase may end up elsewhere in the house, but for now the sculpures both ‘live’ on this buffet closet. I’m happy with this swap Edith, I hope you’re as happy with the things you picked out from me!

Today is Monday, the beginning of a new week and now that the deadline and the weekend are past I hope to find time to finally create a few pages in my  Chronicles art journal… I’m a few weeks behind on that. Thanks for stopping by my blog, hope your week will be good too.

Lovely. Glad you had the opportunity to fellowship with artists and that other people got to admire your work. Wish I could see it in person but the photos were nice. Thanks for sharing.

Jammer dat ik zo ver weg woon, had graag van dichtbij alles even aangeraakt en bekeken. Fijn dat het een leuke ervaring was voor jullie!

Thanks for your visit, Marit. Late never matters— the visit is what’s important. 🙂 The atelier looks wonderful. The windows make it so bright and the white background showcases all of the beautiful artwork. You really have made many art journals. There are many hours work there with such lovely results. Glad you enjoyed it after all of the time and love that you put into your work. Thanks for sharing the photos. 🙂
