What’s on my desk? (woyww #771)

March 13, 2024 By Marit 18 Comments

Hi there folks, goodmorning! Marit here, to join the woyww-tribe once again. It’s a long time since I played along (november last year I think…) and I’m looking forward to visit the blogs of all participants and see how they’re doing.

First: here’s what my desk looks like this wednesday morning

WOYWW #771

Those of you who remember my old blog posts and desk photos may now be surprised: what is this? You had a brown desk, right? And it was in front of the window, right? Yep…at the end of last year I bought new furniture and threw out the old corner desk. It was a great worksheet, yes, but the whole thing was not very flexible and when a friend or student came over, we had to sit next to each other. That felt rather awkwardly, especially when teaching how to bind a book… So I got rid of the old thing and bought me a new desk, new dressers and two smaller tables that I can slide around. Now there’s more flexibility and that was the intention. Mission succesfull, yay!
Here’s the before and after pictures

Before

After

I like sitting in that fresh, light corner behind the tables and I still create a lot on the days I don’t have to work… of course most of the time goes into keeping my ‘Chronicles’ art journal up to date. It’s my 15th year/Chronicles journal and it’s there on the table all the time. These are the latest spreads.

Chronicles art journal – Week 8

Chronicles art journal – Week 9

Chronicles art journal – Week 10 (with postcard in pocket)

Chronicles art journal – Week 10 (with postcard out of pocket)

Besides these Chronicles journal, I do create other spreads, drawings etc. but this post would get too long if I’d show that all to you… so I leave you with these and will go visit YOUR blogposts and desks now… have a lovely day, see ya!

Love the new set up. I keep re-arranging my room thinking the magic position will somehow get me more space, but no. I still need like a half-level that I can lower with ropes and pull up out of the way when not in use! DOH. Maybe build a balcony off the window? Maybe actually get rid of some stuff?? Yeah. No. At least 99% of the time it is only me in here. But as ever I really enjoy the Chronicles. Always so inspiring and a joy to see.
    Happy WOYWW!

You certainly put a lot into the Chronicles, they are fabulous and your trademark.
I love the new look room, so light and airy. Isn’t it funny how a simple colour change can make something look so different. The new furniture is brilliant!

Welcome back, I always love the little words on your desk. And LOVE the new look Bright and cheery !
Do you use any digitals doing your Chronicles? A Collage group I was in had a few who did lots and they were so colorful. Miss the fun and support we had, but it’s no longer …………………. Enjoy a great week.

Thanks for your comment Sylvia, and no I never use any digitals in my art journals. I might occasionally print out a photo that I made to glue on, but all is paint and stamping and doodling and cut out images etc. Sorry to hear your collage group fell apart, it’s always nice to craft together and inspire each other…

Your new furniture is awesome! I can see how it would be more functional and the emphasis is on “fun.”

Your journal pages are amazing! They must take some time to create! Kudos to you for keeping it current for 15 years!

I shared your comment with The Hubster. His response was, “See, I told ya!”

    Welcome back!

I love your chronicles! I used to do journals like that but not for many years. Other things just got in the way, and write in my journal on the computer everyday. I love the “new room”! It looks so light and airy! Have a wonderful week, Lindart #19

Ja, ik zie ons daar helemaal gezellig tegenover elkaar aan die tafel zitten en fijn samen dingen maken. Maar eerst kom je naar mij. Ik zet de bloemetjes vast voor je buiten!

Love the new set-up and the white desk is loads brighter too. Love how you write so much on your journal pages, I really ought to try to do some more actual journaling/writing on mine. Hugs BJ#3

Hi Marit, great to ‘see’ you. Loving the new layout and it looks so fresh and professional. I’m constantly changing mine but I nearly have it how I want it – I moved to a smaller space and it’s taken a while. You kind of have to use the space and storage to see if it actually works I find. Great Chronicle pages – they are so vibrant, love what you do. Have a great week, love n hugs, Cindy xx

The new layout is looking great. I miss the double benches I used to have in the bigger bedroom, but looking back at old woyww posts, it was messier than ever, even with more space! Most things are on wheels’ now, so I can wheel them out into the hall to make more space in the craft (smaller bedroom) room when I need it! Sorry I’m sooo late! Have a great weekend Happy WOYWW!? It’s so lovely to see you Marit. Fifteen years of your Chronicles, that’s just amazing, and so inspirational! Congratulations. Loving the new look with the desks, it struck me immediately, the white really reflects the light doesn’t it. It really does look even more like a studio!
