woyww #279 & Chronicles art journal

October 8, 2014 By Marit 13 Comments

.

Another day… another “What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday and what a day (or better, week!) it is… On Monday, a team of construction workers arrived to start renovating the bathroom and toilet and I will have that bunch of men in da house untill Friday… They grind, drill, brought a big radio that’s tuned on a popular station (right now: Robbie Williams… ‘hey ho, here she goes… ‘ ) they sing and whistle, drink coffee and, I have to say, work hard making our bathroom looking nice and ‘new’ again. I hide in my atelier most of the time, but apparently they influenced me with the mess they make ’cause my workdesk has never looked this chaotic!

WOYWW #279

WOYWW stands for “What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday.” It is a weekly blogseries, hosted by Julia from Stamping Ground. Hop on over to Julia’s blog to find the list of participants and visit crafty desks all around the world.

See that new radio in the window sill? I got it from my beloved for my birthday last week but we still have to make a proper connection so that the it will give a clear sound – for now, the extension powercord does its job (but I won’t listen to it this week anyway, as the radio/music from the workmen fills the whole appartment)

And here’s the desk to my left… even more messy!

woyww#279b

My days were filled with (birthday) visits, walks and trips last week which gave me not much opportunity to sit down and visit the other woyww-desks… I will make it up to you this week, OK?

I have two more spreads from ‘the Chronicles’ to show you – then I’m all up to date – so here are the last two weeks in my art journal

The Chronicles of Marit 2014 – Week 39

2014-week39

In week 39 I wanted to draw something every day instead of writing (but I couldn’t resist writing a little… my journal isn’t complete without words!) I have to confess that most of the drawings are drawn from examples that I found on the internet (like the bookreading girl, the bike-in-the-rain and the girl with wings… you can learn to draw these wings HERE )

The Chronicles of Marit 2014 – Week 40 (left side)

2014-week40a

The Chronicles of Marit 2014 – Week 40 (right side)

2014-week40b

Week 40 was my birthday week (October 2nd) and I added all the b’day cards & letters that I received to my journal in extra plastic holders that I sewed to size and bound between the pages.

The sky is grey like it’s going to rain.
The tiler glues new tiles and whistles along with the radio (John Legend – “All of me loves all of you.”) It is going to be another noisy but yet creative day… hope yours is good as well.
Whistle a song!

LOVE love love the journaling. Sorry you don’t want to hear me whistle, but I am a mean hummer. Short days and even shorter nights for me. Can you tell I am not a fan of fall to winter weather. Peg 44

Marit, I love peeking into your world, and seeing your work desk delights — and inspires — me. Wonder if I should think about photographing mine…. I love your blog, your words, and your art, as always!

Your art journal looks fab! I was just thinking as I spotted it on your desk that I’d like to take a peek inside and there it is! Thanks for sharing your desk today! And thank you for visiting my blog earlier! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #22

Happy belated birthday, you’re supposed to celebrate all month you know! Love the journal with an entry for each day, the angel in particular is beautiful! And girl, you don’t know the meaning of an untidy desk! Hope the workmen finish up soon and you get your bathroom back.

    Hugs
Brenda 48 (I’ve posted now but you don’t have to pop back!)

Hoi Marit!
    groetjes + knuffel
    Lisca

Hey Marit, love what is going on, on your desk. The bag of surprises made me smile..my Mum used to do that when I lived in the UK. Love the journal pages, really beautiful and creative. How clever to add your cards / letters, etc. Cx

I missed your birthday here, lovely One ! I can see that you got a few nice gifties ! That is always fun. Mine is tomorrow. Feeling lonely for my family and friends as I usually spend my birthday in Canada(it is also Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend) but $$ didn’t permit a ticket to Canada from FL right now. I am sure my honey will make it special anyway.
I am in an art slump right now. The only creative thing I have been doing is buts of stitching for a swap with some online friends. I need to get the paints out and dive in !
Hope the construction is over soon so you can get back to having your quiet and inspiring place to yourself.
Sending big love to you across the waves…

How lovely is your journal ! Especially the sketches on Week 39 – so effective with the colours you have chosen. Hope all the chaos of builders will be all worth it when they finally leave you to relax in your new bathroom ! Bet you will rather miss all that hub-hub when they leave ! Ali # 13

I love those lovely colourful pages, they’re great. And I’m glad the workmen are getting on so well. Here’s hoping they will finish really quickly and you’re delighted with the result. Have a great week, Chris # 23

I love your Chronicle journal, it’s a great idea.
That’s two ideas I have found recently for journals the other one was a dictionary.
Workmen now there’s a thing, we had some in and it cost me a fortune in milk and coffee but it was worth it Lol!
    Happy crafting, Angela x 39

Lovely art journal, Marit. The two photos of your wonderful desks remind me that it is a long time since I’ve done an “annotated” photo of my workdesk! Fun to do, but rather time consuming lol!

    Happy belated WOYWW,
