Wednesday came sneaking upon me almost unnoticed… I was sipping my morning coffee when it suddenly hit me: Wednesday! Desk-photo-day! Luckily the battery of the camera was fully loaded so I took a quick snapshot of my desk in all its glory. There are several projects on my desk like the Chronicles page that needs to be finished, the folded harmonica paper that is waiting to turn into a mini journal and the other (bound) mini journals that lay waiting for me to decorate the covers. Oh, and I notice one ‘strange’ thing on my desk that I did not point out. You may wonder what is in front of the tissue paper, well, it is a bottle of oil. I made a photo transfer last week and my transferred photos always show a white mist when dry. You know the problem? I learned the solution from Patty Szymkowicz years ago: to loose the white haze, smear a little bit of oil on the transferred picture!
So that’s it for today… can you believe I kept this post so short?

Jouw atelier ligt alweer vol met mooie dingen. Ik heb met interesse je interview gelezen. Ja, zo’n negatieve opmerking kan heel veel schade doen! Wat een rotvent! (of vrouw)
Ik begreep niet goed wat een photo transfer was, maar ik geloof dat ik het weet. Omdat ze hier geen gel medium hebben, heb ik een paar maanden terug een pot ‘foto podge’ gekocht (het is duits geloof ik) en in de instructies stond dat je alleen fotos van een lazer printer kan gebruiken. Nou ik heb geen lazer printer dus ik heb het nog niet gebruikt…. Maar ik geloof dat ik weet wat je bedoelt.

Ik wou nog even zeggen dat het bijna mijn eerste washi tape was. Ik had vorig jaar twee rolletjes bij de Hema gekocht toen ik in Ned was. Ik heb het nog niet veel gebruikt omdat de kleuren nogal fel waren maar deze van Lidl vond ik zooo mooooi!

Ooh thanks for the oil tip – I have never had much luck with transfers. I loved the interview (although what your art teacher said to you made me annoyed on your behalf – I’m glad you came back to art!)

A great interview Marit. I love your advice about not letting other people’s hurtful words bring you down. We all need to have a strong core inside to lean on when life batters us. I would love to see those tiny journals up close sometime. The smallest ones I have made are stitched into jello boxes as covers. Shel#45

Lots of projects on the go just there – I have been making books with concertina spines. The latest is a rainbow photo album, which I am so pleased with (go and see if you fancy it- it’s the post before my WOYWW). I’d like to see what you make with your concertina’d paper…
The tip about oil over a photo transfer is really handy – I will remember it.

Wat leuk om te horen Jellina, dat je het interview goed kon lezen! Als nederlandse (met alleen ‘middelbare-school-engels, maar mét een talenknobbel dus ik pik andere talen snel/makkelijk op) gebruik ik in het Engels natuurlijk wel de wat simpelere woorden, waarom zou je ‘t moeilijk zeggen als het makkelijk(er) kan. Ik hoor het trouwens vaker van mensen, dat ze me ook in het engels goed kunnen volgend. Dat doet me echt goed!
