woyww #332 & dynamic art journaling

October 14, 2015 By Marit 14 Comments

I woke up to find the sky outside gray and a bit hazy morning.
I smiled, turned on the heat, poured me a cup of coffee and headed for my atelier… and that’s where I will spend my day! Of course I took a photo of my work desk first thing, as it is Wednesday. Wednesdays are ‘woyww-days.’

Over the last weeks I noticed that my art journaling style is becoming looser, more free, more intuitive, more raw… it somehow started while I worked on a canvas (see this post) and that way of working continued in my journals. Here’s my latest spread in my journal “De Zeeuwse Ziel” (“Soul from Zeeland”)

Dynamics of Life and Death13-dynamics-of-life-and-dea

My friend Lena gave me golden, copper and silver paint for my birthday. It was my wish to complete my collection of acrylics with those colors but Lena did not know that. How awesome is it when friends just seem to ‘feel’ what makes you happy! This art journal spread shows a little bit of gold and copper spots. Not too much (the ‘copper colors’ on this spread are mostly burnt sienna) because the paint is metallic and shiny, but by adding just a bit here and there I gave this page the finishing touch. I’m very pleased with this piece ánd with the paint, thank you Lena!

I have my radio on, I have my materials on the desk, I poured me another cup of coffee and despite the gray weather: it is going to be a beautiful day! Enjoy yours!

Hi Marit, you do keep a nice, tidy desk but can imagine it’s a tad messy when you get working with your paints – do you have a separate area for the painting? Great journal page, enjoy your week Cheers RobynO#25

I like your pen storage, Marit. I would need something like that too. I have several upright ones that I made myself, but I think it’s better for pens to be stored horizontally. LOVE your page – you’re right – it is rather loose and intuitive. I’m waiting for my style to loosen up as well! Certain projects allow for this more than others. It’s happened a few times and I know I like it, becuase it’s so freeing! Have a great week! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #36

It sounds a perfect way to spend a gray day, Marit. We are blessed with sunshine here in the UK so I have been pulled out into my garden again and my craft desk is sadly neglected today but it’ll still be there on gray days.
I love your journal page and how great is a your friend to just know exactly what you need in your stash.
    Have a good week.

Love the touches of ‘gold’. almost gives the layout a vintage look. Sounds like you are going to enjoy this day in spite of the weather. Go you! Warm, sunny here. The leaves are turning color and falling from the Maple tree outside my window. We are blessed. Creative Blessings! Kelly #43

Oh well done Lena! Not only what you wanted, but what a great result it gave you on this page, just lovely touches of metallic! I am a bit jealous that you’ve been able to spend the day in the atelier…I wonder what your desk looks like now!

Good ol’ Lena, getting you exactly what was needed! The result is stunning!
I’m sorry you’re having such bad weather. Here it is still hot. We still eat outside but today was really too hot to sit in the sun! (We had liver & onions, not really suitable for hot weather, but my hubby fancied it…)

So wonderful seeing an art journal on your desk this week. I like the idea of using the metallic colors. I enjoyed looking at all the different parts of the spread. Truly admire it. So glad you shared it this week. Thank you for the visit earlier this week. Diane # 25
