We experience yet another cold (very cold – for Dutchies) day!
My beloved and I were having trouble with it all weekend. The drain pipe
from the heating boiler and washing machine is but small, and the part
that is outside is frozen. Not able to do the laundry isn’t a problem (if
necessary, I can go to the neighbours and do my laundry there) but the
heating boiler drips its condensation water into the pipe and is making
the block of ice that is in the pipe thicker and thicker while the rest of
the water overflows in our bathroom.
..
We tried heating the part of the pipe outside with my heat tool
(haha.. I hardly use that thing but now it comes in handy!) –
the pipe even got brown spots from the heater but the ice didn’t
melt enough.
We put an electric heater in front of the pipe.
Nope.
We got the garden hose out and tried to spray warm water in the pipe
(this all has to be done outside, at the end of the pipe that comes out
in a floor drain/hole in a corner of our small garden).
No results either.
My beloved and I made the deal that we would not (NOT) snap at
each other or fight, and that we would keep on smiling… we are not
very handy with these things so we gave my dad a call a few times a
day – he gave us advise, set things in perspective, made jokes and
kept us sane! And you know…. my beloved and I even had a good laugh
and fun together while doing this all – but still… no results.
The ice is still there – maybe a bit less and somewhat thinner then before
but still there in the pipe. Aaargggh.
After three afternoons of hard work in the freezing cold and snow,
we gave up.
We will deal with it.
We will drain the water out of the pipes in the bathroom every now
and then and we will wait for the temperatures to rise.
That should not happen for another week though.
The forcast predicts even more cold.
More frost.
More ice.
Low temperatures.
There might even be an ‘Elfstedentocht’ early next week…
Anyway, enough with the moaning….

He bought a ‘portrait lens for his camera the other day and
when we visited my parents he brought his camera.
He took some marvelous pictures of us all.

I get cold even looking at this page!
I will go make me a pot of tea then and maybe get
the paint and markers out of the drawers this afternoon.
The heat tool is still downstairs too, do you think I can do
something crafty with it for a change? Maybe I will!

Oh, you poor things ! That kind of cold is so hard to bear, especially when you are not used to it or when your house is not really prepared for it ! Thank goodness you have each other, your art and your great sense of humor to keep you warm.

Wat een ijs-drama bij jullie, Marit! Gelukkig kan je alle ellende een beetje vergeten door in je Chronicles te werken. Beide weken zijn weer erg mooi geworden! Sterkte daar… wat mij betreft mag ook de dooi inzetten hoor.. na de Elfstedentocht dan.. 😉

Inderdaad, wat is het koud… Ben erg benieuwd of die Elfstedentocht dit jaar weer plaats gaat vinden! En wat een verhaal! Wat dat betreft kan ik me wel voorstellen dat je uitkijkt naar wat warmere temperaturen. En wat een mooie tekst heb je gebruikt voor week 4!!! Beide LO’s zijn weer snoepjes voor het oog! Gatsie, dat is echt de vervelende kant van al die kou. Ik snap dat je liever warme temperaturen hebt, maar een elfstedentocht is ook wel weer heel leuk! Dus misschien nog een paar daagjes bikkelen en daarna lente? 😉

Wat een ellende zeg, die bevroren afvoer…!! Als ik me goed herinner hebben jullie daar al eerder problemen mee gehad?? Constructiefoutje lijkt me het toch wel zeg! BAH!
Je werk is er echter niet minder fraai door hoor! Beide bladzijden vind ik super! Knap hoor dat je bij zo’n ijzige week ook weer gelijk het juiste plaatje weet te vinden!!
De portretten van Nout zijn ook MOOI!! (vooral die van Marius en je pa…!)
Wat een geweldige art journals, al kan ik de tekst van de tweede niet goed lezen, ik begrijp uit de reacties hierboven dat jullie last hadden van een bevroren waterleiding 🙁 Ik vind de bovenste echt heel mooi door de prachtige foto’s en de mooie warme kleuren en de mooi geschreven tekst. De onderste is lekker ijzig en het niet goed te lezen handschrift lijkt wel een verzameling van ijspegels bij elkaar 🙂 Super!
Wat een narigheid, Marit! Ik denk dan ook dat je blij wordt van de weersvooruitzichten van vandaag: vanaf zondag gaat het dooien! Nog even geduld dus. Wel super dat je je niet gek hebt laten maken!!
