Freewheelin’ Friday, and freewheelin’ it is!
Next week, I will be busy working again but this last week I just ‘freewheeled’
a lot, playing with my ‘A Year in the Life of an Art Journal’, having fun with
the ladies in my workshop and practising my drawing skills… which aren’t
good enough to publish in this post, but I have some other things to show you…
I’m totally in love with the bookbinding technique I learned here
I made this little book (9 x 15 cm/ 3.5 x 5.9 inch) for my mom.
It has 26 pages (52 sides) so she can use it for her ‘one haiku a week’.
Isn’t this a cutie?
Next, another page for A Year in the Life of an Art Journal.
I’m still catching up on the prompts from last year, but I’m almost there…
and if you feel like art journaling too: the first prompt for 2011 is up,
so jump right in and join us! (I’m a guest host over there, and the other girls
are amazing too: that’s a guarantee for fun, isn’t it?!)
The page I made is for the prompt from December 15th; and the word was
Connection
Not just any connection but: “Share a story about a connection you’ve made
or would like to make with someone you’ve only met on line…”
Now I met so many beautiful people online (you!) who I feel connected to,
I even met some of the girls in real life (Hi gals! Hope to meet you again soon!)
but there’s one lady which whom I have a very special connection… it’s even
scary sometimes, the way we feel, think, write, interact and hell, even LOOK
the same! It’s almost like we really have one soul that split in two.
One part settled in her body, way over the ocean, and the other part decided
to land in the Netherlands… it settled right in me.
Through the Internet we found – and immediately ‘recognized’ – each other.
Sounds weird, I know, but I’m sure she feels te same, for she is my soul sister!
Journaling:
Tired of flying through cyberspace, I landed on magpie’s nest.
It seemed as Patty was already expecting me. She greeted me
like a long lost friend. It didn’t take long to realize that we both
found our soul sister. My paper wings never get tired from flying
to Patty.
I used acrylic paint for the background, pieces of a map (her and my place)
a photo transfer of a magpie’s nest (I drew some extra lines with oil crayon
to make it stand out more) I stamped the butterflies, the title and the
journaling lines and gave myself some nice paper wings.
And yep, that’s both Patty and me on the page!
A busy week lays ahead but for now, my friends, I’m going to
enjoy the weekend! I recommend you do that too!

Make sure to leave time for yourself during this busy time.
I love that you and Patty made such a connection. My friend Peggy and I made the same connection. She flew all the way around the world and even went on a two week holiday and we had only known each other through Scrapblog and blogging. She is not the only scrapbooker I have met after meeting online, but she is definitely the most extreme of stories.

Prachtig werk meis!! Ben wég van het boekje, je mam was er zeker wel erg blij mee..!!??
De layout met Patty ziet er ook fantastisch uit, leuk idee dat je komt “aanvliegen” op haar “nest”.

I love the book you made for your Mama – gorgeous binding (I shall go see how to do that!)… and the page about Patty & you is wonderful Marit! Patty is so lovely – we have been blogging pals for a while now and I share stuff with her and Lennie (who’s a wannabe cowgirl!). I found my own soul sister online in Barbara – she and I so hope to meet one day! Glad I read your post because people used to think I was nuts saying I’d never met my best friend!
Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog too… not sure if I’ll have time for all these challenges, but I did love the post by Rachel – made perfect sense to me!
I too, am glad you found my blog and I, yours! Have a great week!
