Goodmorning beautiful ones! It’s been a while since I wrote a ‘proper’ blogpost, I usually stick to posting a haiku and/or showing my art without much words but this time I will add some extra info with the Chronicles spreads I created last month.
However, a haiku doesn’t need any extra words… it is what it is, isn’t it?

Art Journaling
Chronicles 2022 – Week 1
No matter how long I may be journaling and no matter how experienced I am, I always have trouble starting the first spread in a new journal… I need to get used to the big format of this new journal and the big, blank pages kept staring at me…. therefor, this spread contains several layers before I was satisfied. “Explore” is my word for 2022 (see this blogpost) and I found an old magazine with an article about exploration… enough sentences with the word to make a ‘found poem’ out of it, so I did!
Chronicles 2022 – Week 2
I created the background on the week 2 spread, but it was much later that I had time to work on it some more… already in Week 4 I found the time to finish this spread and everything went wrong! I had opened my notebook at week 3 and jotted the wrong text on these pages (right and left.) I’d had it with this spread by now so I decided to not work on it or put another layer of paint over it (this spread already contains of 4 or 5 layers…) so I crossed out the text and turned the page… on to the next week!
Chronicles 2022 – Week 3
You probably didn’t get the news from the Netherlands, but in Week 3 (and still up to today) the discussion arose about “unacceptable, sexual behavior” from men against women… the discussion was stimulated by the documentary program #boos that did research on talent shows. There were various charges against people (director, band leader, coaches) that were said abused participants and talents at the program “The Voice of Holland.” It was hot news in the Netherlands and The Voice immediately stopped their broadcast.
I remember the feminist protests back in the seventies and I find it sad that, fifty years later, not much has changed…
I hope you enjoyed my post and my art journal pages, have a nice weekend – stay safe and be nice to one another!

Great start to your journal. I too, find it sad that nothing has changed since the feminist protests. The world only seems more violent…everywhere…and especially here in the U.S. Your haiku is special!
I will walk around that bend in the road with you Marit! And, I always love seeing your journals and artmaking. You inspire me. I just shifted some pieces around the little labyrinth art piece that you made for me years ago! It always makes me think of you and your beloved! Hugs to you across the distance!
