Goodmorning lovelies, a working week lies behind me and I’m glad to be back at work! I love routine, I love to work in the conservation and restoration studio at the Zeeuws Archief and an additional advantage is that my days off really feel like days off again! Friday is such a day that I can spend in my atelier, doing ‘my own thing’ and as you know, one of those things is to write a haiku to a photo my friend Lena took.
Friday haiku
De wereld beweegt. Het water zoekt een weg en de hemel spuugt vuur. |
The world is moving. Water finds its way in and the sky is on fire. |
The photo was taken by Lena Schreijenberg
I submit this haiku to Recuerda Mi Corazon where our lovely hostess Rebecca brings us all together to share a haiku on Friday: Haiku my Heart
Dutch Dares scrapbook challenge
I decided to stay a member of the DD design team for now – although I have less time I think I can handle the one challenge a month – Dutch Dares presents a theme and a sketch and one can choose to use the theme, the sketch or combine the both.
It was my turn to come up with this month’s challenge and I choose as a theme: “A Special Place” and a sketch
And here’s my take on it.
I combined the theme with the sketch and OH how I enjoyed creating this layout … via a ‘region group’ on facebook (and my uncle, who used to own the nightlife venue where my friends and I went out on friday nights when we were teenagers) I managed to lay my hand on an old photo of ‘café Royal’. Years later I took the second picture that may look as a ‘meaningless photo’ but to me, that parking basement is also a special place… Together the photos and journaling depict a part of my teenage years complete with first kisses and ‘fussing in the dark’…
And here’s an art journal spread I created a few weeks ago
The Chronicles of Marit 2020 – Week 33
Thanks for visiting my blog today, have a nice weekend.
Je t’embrasse
Poignant haiku and the photo says it all.
There is solace to be taken when we know that the earth is still rotating and the sun will rise and set. Thank you for this lovely haiku and beautiful photo!
Oh wonderful mixed media artwork ~ and delightful haiku ^_^

Your haiku is awesome. With so few words, it describes so much movement in that photo. I could feel it. And…um…”fussing in the dark”??? (ahem…cough cough) 😉
Fire and water… there is such beauty and poingancy in your haiku and Lena’s image for me today. Thank you Marit. And, I always love seeing your artmaking. It is fun to see the template you used and I love thinking of you going to the Cafe Royal as a teenager and those first kisses… great memories and a wonderful way to share them.
It almost looks as though the water is on fire too. We’re getting the last of summer’s fiery heat this weekend, when our local temperature here in Southern California is expected to soar to 45 degrees Celsius. I’ll be glad when summer’s gone!
thank you for your beautiful self!!! how i wish we could all just close our eyes and believe in humanity again. how i wish we could all open our hearts and be compassionate and caring. thank you for a glimpse of beauty-water and fire!
xoxo
your haiku and art sets my joy ablaze
Stay safe

much love…
If the water would find its way into our desert world, we would be happy!
