This Friday,ย my haiku is dedicated to ‘Spadoman’ Joe
This one’s for you Joe – may friendship and healing surround you!
Terugtrekkend water
onthult diepe zorgrimpels. Verdrietig zandstrand |
Retreating water
reveals furrows in the sand the earth seems to weep |

I stay at the beach with this next page… it’s the first page in the book
I made in Zeeland last weekend.
(Size of the pages: 13 x 17 cm - 5.12 x 6.7 inch)
The scrapbooking paper with seahorses has been in my stash forever!
I finally used it to cover up the inside of the cover. The photo was taken
by Elvy (put on a particular position her camera takes pics that look like
watercolour paintings. Awesome, isn’t it?)ย That pose is typical for me
and I love how she captured that with her camera!
I started next page last weekend too.
Margot hadย brought some little templates with her (6×6 inch) and I fell
in love with this one. I also glued the image on to the page but I got stuck
after that… I finished the page yesterday.
Size: 29,7 x 21 cm - 16.9 x 8.3 inch.
(For the Dutchies:ย ‘Puffin’ is the translation of ‘papagaaiduiker’ –
the name of the bird)
For you who need inspiration to art journal: how about making a page
using the new prompt at A Year in the Life of an Art Journal ?
THE PROMPT: Pretty
THE SONG: Fuckin’ Perfect by Pink
PRODUCT/TECHNIQUE: Pink Paint Dripped like Blood
The design team created some awesome examples to inspire you, so
hop on over, take a look and play along! You can take all or parts of
the prompt, and MAKE THEM YOURS!! You don’t have to use the swear
words or you can use them all you want. Just make this prompt into
your art! Then go to the AYITLOAAJ-site and share a link to where
you’ve posted your page on line. Easy, isn’t it?
I started this page with a lot of enthusiasm. Painted the background green
and transferred a funny photo of myself. I also dripped some pink paint
from top to bottom. Next day I looked and… bleeehh… didn’t like it at all!
I threw in some pink spray ink – which turned out to be purple.
I stamped pink paint with a toilet roll. I put washi tape at the borders.
It became one, chaotic page and I got mad.
I wrote the text.
I didn’t like that either.
I got more mad.
I colored the circles (pink water soluble crayons) and outlined the text.
After that, the page was full. I didn’t like it but there was no room left to
add anything else. I considered to cover the page with gesso and start over,
but then it hit me: this f**ing page is f**ing perfect for this prompt –
and I’m not ๐
(Size: 21 x 19,5 cm - 8.3 x 7.7 inch)
Thanks for being around today!
I hope you liked this ‘glimpse into my silly life’
It’s healthy to act silly every now and then –
now go and have a wonderful weekend.
(Throw in some silliness!)
Love your Silliness !!!
And love that the page you didn’t think was f***ing perfect became so! Love that song too.
I hope you have a sweet weekend, My Friend !
So grateful to be a part of a friendship circle with you ! ๐
HUgs !
i am feeling the love in the haiku circle today!
thanks for your perfect place in all our haiku hearts!
Your haiku is so sad. When I see the sand like that, it brings a sense of peace and tranquility to me. Funny how the same thing can evoke such different feelings in two different people.
It’s wonderful to see the circle for Joe in action, isn’t it? So uplifting…
Saw your AYITLOAAJ page on the blog – brilliant!! Wish I could’ve been in Zeeland – maybe next year!
I’ll hug Thor for you – he really is terribly sweet-natured you know!
I’ll email you more photos over the weekend… =)
Rosie xoxo
A beautiful haiku.
I love coming to visit you and your silly life! You make me smile!
Always a treat to visit your silly life!
I love…”the earth seems to weep” – WOW! The photo is awesome…it almost looks like seeping oil!
You are so right! The weeping furrows look like tears running down someone’s cheek.
Sad and happy is all here in your words, your haiku, yes life is a mixture we must embrace all but we do it much better when we are surrounded by love, thank you for yours.
Sue x
I love your photos Marit. It is interesting that you hardly ever talk about them and they are absolutely stunning! I love your haiku, bittersweet and your caring for Joe. I always enjoy your artwork and your experiments. I thought it was pretty great actually. Thanks for being a part of the circle!
xoxo,
Noelle

Wonderful work and cool photo!! ๐
Je haiku is weer een heeeele mooie meis! Prachtige foto erbij trouwens!!
Grappig hoe je de naar jouw gevoel niet perfecte “Fuckin’ Perfect” layout juist zo hebt ingezonden!
I am having a very hard time saying Thank You loud enough to show my appreciation. Please know that your thoughts and prayers have meant the world to me. May your life be blessed withn Peace.
Hoi Marit,
Hi Marit!!! It’s been a while. I haven’t been blogging or getting very crafty lately. Love your artful inspirations. That picture of the water for the Haiko is beautiful. and the photo of you is really cool. love how it turned out.
And yes, being silly is pretty good and should be done quite often I think.. =)
Gearing up for another work week here. Hope yours week is fabulous.
hugs. =)
LOL, that last page is awesome! Actually they’re all great but I did have a laugh after reading about that one. ๐
That’s so funny Marit because when I saw your page I was like “that’s so bloody awesome!!!” I have had moments like that too and it’s so frustrating but I love your end result!
Ah Friend! I found you!!!
I was so pissed off at my blog, with the list gone~! I tried so many combinations to find your blog, but NOPE! I couldn’t get it for anything.
Then, this morning, it came back!! YEAH!!!!
I PLAN on bookmarking each blog, just in case, but fear that I won’t. I have too much to do this week with Thanksgiving here in the states, and the boys home starting tomorrow for a week!!
But, I found you, and that is awesome!!
Your comments always bring a smile to my face!
Your work is wonderful!! And I am so happy you all had a fabulous time in Zeeland!!
