I haven’t blogged for a week… Oops! I had some fun activities last week (Daddy’s birthday!) and on top of that, I got all absorbed by playing another Zelda video game. (For you who read this post two weeks ago: I finished “Ocarina of Time” and started on “Majora’s Mask” last week… and no, it’s not “revisiting my youth” as someone commented… I was in my mid-thirties when I bought the Nintendo and started playing games with my son – he loved playing adventures games too, but the device was/is mine!)
I put away the controller after the weekend to work in my atelier but that turned out to be pretty hard because someone started renovating their apartment and the past days were filled with drilling and milling… the noise was overwhelming and I could hardly think, let alone concentrate… the only thing I could do was draw an alphabet and color it (that kind of work does not need much thinking…)
The lettering journal was still on my desk this morning. This day started quiet, and it still is… let’s hope it stays that way as a person goes crazy from all that noise in the house…
So, my desk today… here it is.
You can see that my window is open… that’s not because of the warm weather but to air out our apartment.
I thought you might like a better look at my lettering-journal. The colors are a bit pale on the photo, the yellow is brighter in real live. I don’t know if I will color the lettering too… I might leave it open/white like this but maybe a color would look nice? What would you do? Any ideas about what color I should take?
One more thing to show: the first week in my Chronicles art journal. I created 3 weeks/spreads already but I won’t throw them to you all at once…
The Chronicles of Marit 2016 – Week 1
Size: 29,7 x 42 cm – 11.6 x 16.5 inch
This journal is big and I am still not completely used to creating in such a big book, but I do like the fact that I can put in postcards, leaflets, big images and such and still have space left to write.
And that’s it for today sweeties… I’m off to visit some other blogs/desks as long as I can sit in peace (no drilling yet… keep your fingers crossed!) and otherwise I will visit you later this week. Enjoy your day!

How annoying all that noise! It’s sad that other people have the ability to influence our lives in such a negative way. Still, these things need doing sometimes, you can only hope they will not last forever. Better than living next door to someone who has noisy parties every night! A lettering journal is such a good idea, but I never had the patience to make one. I’ve also wanted to make a doodle journal, but never got around to it. They’re great when you need some inspiration to fall back on. I’m hoping someone might publish a book so I don’t have to make my own! I love everything about your journal page , Marit – it is very well balanced! zsuzsa #32

Hi Marit, all that noise must be maddening but seems like you’re having a good day today. I think I might leave the lettering as is but I’m sure you will decide for yourself eventually. I love your journal page – the colours and images are wonderful and the bird is fabulous. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #39

I hope the noise doesn’t last too long! I love your journal pages. Wonderful. The lettering is nice too. I think some kind of green would look nice there.
Happy WOYWW

I’m sorry about the noise, renovations are so difficult to block out of your head! I love the alphabet that emerged, would like that in a set of stamps! I think to leave it white, really like the open work look. Shut the window now, aired is good, but freezing isn’t, and when I went upstairs to close our bedroom window the room was really cold!

Hope the noise stops soon, don’t think people realise how much noise they make but sometimes I guess it can’t be helped. Wishing you a great week (and a quiet one hopefully!) and a happy woyww, Angela x 24

Happy WOYWW. I hope you had a peaceful day. Living on a busy dairy farm is not as quiet as people would imagine living in a rural setting would be, and we just started the calving period so the machines/animals are even noisier than usual. My craft room/office overlooks the main yard, which is interesting, but it can get distracting too. Love your lettering. I would leave it white. Perhaps repeat the exercise and try some colour on that one? Ali x #64

The noise will soon be a thing of the past, create your way through it or wear ear muffs haha.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt

Hi Marit! yeah, one of the designs for my studio was to include a space I could hook up my Nintendo. Was never a Zelda fan, though. Go you for accomplishing! I love your pages. What journal are you using for your big book? Is it Dylusions? Creative Blessings! Kelly #43

I bind most of my journals myself – the ‘big book’ is also handbound. The cover and spine (binding) can be seen in this blogpost of January 6
