Morning to the ‘week after’ lovely ones… it’s number 251 of WOYWW and boy did we have an anniversary celebration last week! The link list on the 10th anniversary date was loooongg… it seemed like everyone who ever joined Julia’s weekly event came over to join the party. I’d planned to visit each and every participant and I managed to do that last week.
And now it’s on to the next decade of ‘desk hop’… here’s how mine looked yesterday afternoon
It’s a sunny day after a day filled with rain, so I won’t be spending a lot of time at my desk today. The art journal spread can wait ’cause I can’t wait to enjoy the sun. I got a nice book from the library that I just started reading and I think I will put the chair on the balcony and spend the afternoon there with Karl Ove Knausgård
Before I go, a few things:
Urban ‘sketch’
Another card, send to a friend for his birthday last week, inspired by Karen Stamper.
This ‘urban sketch’ was done in my atelier and pictures a non-excisting city, drawn from fantasy. According to the ‘rules’ I should not call this ‘urban sketching’… but I will go for ‘the real thing’ and sketch outside in public this weekend. I have an appointment with my old neighbour Frederika who paints and sketches outside a lot. I will meet up with her and join a group of ‘urban sketchers’ that will go into town on Saturday. I already bound me a small sketch book to bring with me and googled for info… this alinea sums up how I feel about it.
“Problem is, getting started can seem a little scary. (…) Feeling shy? You’re not alone — lots of would-be urban sketchers are worried about being that person, drawing in public. You’ll get over that as soon as the joy of creating takes over. But for starters, bring a friend. It helps!” (A Beginner’s Guide to Urban Sketching)
I’ll let you know how it goes.
The Chronicles of Marit 2019 – Week 19
Crocheted hippie skirt
Some of you asked me about the skirt I started crocheting in April (see this blogpost.) I finished it a while ago already and sewed a lining in it too. My friend Lena agreed to take some photos of me wearing it – we’ll have a ‘girls’ day out’ and do a photoshoot… so be patient, photo’s WILL be there someday.
And that’s it for today sweeties. Enjoy the day, enjoy the sunshine (if there is any) and keep on rockin’ in the free world!
Ooh lots of tempting hints of photos to come Marit. Can’t wait to see the finished crocheted skirt and your urban sketching session with friends sounds exhilarating. Enjoy the sun and your book. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #12.
I wish I lived nearer Marit, because I’d come out with the Urban sketching group too! I like the quick watercolour background and then black pen detail on top, very clever. Can’t wait to see the photoshoot of your crochet skirt!!
Please can you email me your address as I have something to post when I get back from my holiday. My email is appletonmob at gmail dot com

Hi Marit, love the sketch. Kyla does a lot of Urban Sketching too in her home town. She often posts them on FB. Great journal as always, loving the zingy colours. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 X
I recognise that guy in your chronicle. Thanks so much for my envelope of goodies which I will show to the world next week.
Love your urban sketch – or whatever it should be called – and I do ope you enjoy your day out urban sketching with your friend. I am sure you will, nothing like a lot of artists gathering together. Wonder what the collective name is for them – a palette of artists maybe.
Thanks again for my Pif

Hi Maarit, first of all I’m sorry I didn’t visit last week, and thank you for you kind comment. I’ve tried Firefox, Chrome and Safari to view your blog and not one of them show your images so sorry I can’t comment on any of them, I’m not sure why, Blogger is being real pain but don’t think you use blogger. Way of Net I guess. Have a great WOYWW and when it’s not 10pm at night I’ll try come back and see if they’re on Instagram too.

Hi Marit! The urban sketch is fantastic and that’s another super cool art journal spread. Can’t wait to see the photos of you modelling your crocheted skirt! Have fun this week! zsuzsa #23
Sadly no sun here today but I’ve lots to do to keep me busy so it’s not a problem for me. How lovely to go out sketching with friends [ even if some of them you’ve not met as yet]. Enjoy your day.
Hugs,

That urban sketch is stunning and I love your chronicles as ever. Happy WOYWW! Love & God Bless, Caro x (#15)
I always love your detailed listing of your table, but what is the “thing” to the right of your water? It is metal and has “curls” on it. Looks like it’s in back of a tuna type can.
Your urban type sketch was wonderful, and I always love, love, love your collaged journals. Happy WOYWW from #1.
We have the rain today… it’s been cold too! Love the urban sketch, and I do look forward to seeing the photoshoot in your new skirt! Helen #3
Héél benieuwd naar je Urban Sketching. En uiteraard naar de rok. Maar je weet: ik heb geduld.
Liefs.
Hi Marit, yes last week was a big list, it took me a few days to get round everyone! Have fun with Urban Sketching – looking forward to seeing the results, and the photos of your crochet skirt. Great looking Chronicles of Marit! Have a lovely week Heather x #11
Hi Marit, love visiting you as there are always brilliant pieces of art to see. Have a lovely crafty week and a happy woyww, Angela x17x
I made the majority of desks last week but I think I missed yours. So a belated happy 10th anniversary!
Love your sketch! I’m lucky to be able to draw a straight line!
Fascinating page! And looking forward to your skirt photos!
Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Hi Marit, ooh that sounds like a really cool thing that there is such a group you can join 🙂 I think its the same way with photographers and shooting on the streets sometimes. I tend to avoid shooting the people just because. ~Stacy #27 (PS love that card you did for him it looks fabulous)
