Another Wednesday and another day in the studio… yes dear ones, I spend some hours in the studio so come on in to see what I created…
Before I show you the latest, here’s a golden oldie scrapbook layout – lifted from one of my old scrapbook albums.
(I don’t create ‘traditional scrapbook layouts’ anymore but every Wednesday I dive into my albums and lift a ‘golden oldie.’ The layouts I pick are random, YOU – blog readers – name the number of the album and layout to show. Let me know in a comment which album you want me to open next week and what layout I should show… )
This week’s request came from Nan G – from – Froggy Designs who asked me to open album 7 and show layout #31. {click on the image to enlarge}
Oh, haha, now this is quite a story! I made this layout in 2009 and the journaling reads:
“Why should someone in Gods name want to know the decimals of pi from the head?
Apart from the fact that it is in any case impossible – the decimal representation never ends or repeats – it is good-for-nothing. Isn’t knowing the fact that the value of pi is the ratio of any circle’s circumference to its diameter in Euclidean space enough?
But NO, Nout challenged himself and my little mathematics wonder – even in his circle of friends he’s notorious for his mathematical skills – started to cram the numbers into his head. For months, he had a little paper in his pocket with the numbers on it and he used every free minute to drum yet another line of numbers into that little head of his. Just like that. During lunch break at school. During dinner… en he managed! Boy did he manage!
He came quit a long way. A very, almost impossible long way… And so here I am, the mother of a son who can recite pi from the head. Up to 480 decimals!”
If you want to read more and see detail photos, the old post with this layout, from May 2009, can be found HERE.
Last week I told you that I participate in Tammy Garcia’s Index-Card-A-Day 2013
I showed the first three cards (made with the challenges Tammy gave) in this post but after that, I threw the challenges out the window and turned to my old, familiar way of creating collages on the index cards. It feels more relaxed and fun to not be bound on prompts and create them my own way. Here’s one I made yesterday and I submit this one not only to ICAD but also to Glue it Tuesday. (I will show more index cards later this week.)
There is also a facebook group for the ICAD 2013 event, but I have not yet uploaded my cards there. In fact, I haven’t been around in groups and on forums and I did not visit my blogfriends as much as I used to. This is the season for outdoors activities (I go for long walks with my beloved or sit in the garden) and so I spend less time at the computer.
I did pay a bit more attention on my studio last week though… and here’s what my desk looked this morning when I took a photo for WOYWW
(Don’t you have no clue what that funny acronym stands for? Hop over to The Stamping Ground for all the details about that and the blog links for desk hopping. Come on, join the deskers – take a photo of your desk, add your link to the list and start hoppin’ around the world. It’s fun!)
WOYWW #210
To the right, you see envelopes holding ATCs the mailman delivered as a result of the WOYWW-ATC-swap. I received four now. I should get some more but it is called “snail mail” for a reason 😉
The little treasures I received
From AliPeeps
From Christine
From Maisie Moonshine
From Scrappymo
I really love it that these ATCs are all so different in style and technique and yet each one is a little piece of art – thank you so much ladies!
I’m falling in love with the small size all over again… it’s ideal to use up little scraps of paper and all other sors of left-overs. I used to make music-themed ATCs for a blog named songs in my heART but the founder/lady stopped posting in July 2011… and I don’t know of any other music-ATC-blog. If I had time, I’d start one myself but I better not. If you know of one, please leave the link in a comment.
But hey, nothing keeps me from creating a few music-themed ATCs anyway, so I might go into the studio and work on that.
Have a great day, y’all.
Keep on rockin’ in the free world.
Make an ATC!
You received lovely ATCs. I like the one with the bird best 🙂

Hi Marit – thanks for dropping by today – I never got Pi – couldn’t remember anything even if you paid me LOL – your ATC’s are lovely and such a tidy desk!! Happy WOYWW… Mxx #25
Those ATCs are beautiful! Happy WOYWW, Sharon #76
love your atc’s and the desk looks good today! Helen 12
Loving the lo!!! How awesome!! And those cards are FABULOUS!!
Memorizing Pi. That sounds like something my oldest would do.
I follow “songs in my heART”. I am the kind of artist who needs a prompt to follow. Rarely do I create for the sake of creating. 🙂
Marit,
Now that would take him awhile to spit out all those numbers. Love the atc’s you have received.
Thanks for popping by to say hi and leaving a comment.
Hugs Eliza & Yoda
Hi Marit – Glad you liked your ATC! I’m really enjoying the index cards you’re making at the moment – especially the “wonders that lie ahead” love the speckled colours on the circles. Thanks for your visit and have a great week. MMx #43
Hi Marit! Thanks so much for stopping by today. So glad you did ‘cos it made me check out your wonderful blog! I have a mathematical son too! He has Aspergers so life is tough for him at the moment. I’ve heard of ICAD – must check it out. You create lovely things, have a creative week. Love and hugs from Magpieheaven xx. #55 Julie Ann

Wow, I’m in awe of your son! Umm…how about album 6, #11? I’ve seen ICAD all over the place but didn’t know what it stood for. Thanks for clearing that up! Another great idea to keep us creating art!
Great cards! Amazingly creative people out there!
Have a great WOYWW,

All such great work! thank you for sharing.

Gorgeous collection of ATC’s. I love the idea of using index cards. Hugs. Pam#26

Hi there love the ATC’s you got. I really like these little ‘works of art’ I am sorry I am late visiting. I got so far on Wednesday and then couldn’t get on laptop on Thursday. Thanks for visiting me . Anne x #75
Lovely ATCs there. I really like the way you have identified everything on your desk.
I have ordered the magazine and look forward to getting it.
Carol
Wow – so much to see. The ATC’s you received are so pretty and unique. So many cool things going on at your desk. The index cards are like little works of art themselves. Thank you for stopping by my blog earlier.

I love those little cards, and I’m with you; the little ones are really charming right now, and as with icad, they give me the freedom to create something in a relatively short period of time, and which can even be added to larger pieces. It’s hard sometimes to visit blogs as much when there are a variety of challenges to work on and the sun is beckoning. I’m posting my icads to the Flickr page, since I don’t Facebook.
Happy Creating!
Cool page from your 2009 journal scrapbook and the icad project looks rewarding!
Enjoy the great outdoors!
Happy belated WOYWW! What an interesting post (and a tidy labelled desk).
I wish I had joined in with the ATCs, never made one yet but I would have done!
