Too hot to handle an art journal…

June 21, 2017 By Marit 12 Comments

My-oh-my… it’s been ages since I wrote a proper blogpost… and it is certainly a long time ago (almost a month!) since I posted a photo of my workdesk. I almost did not join in today too due to computer problems. My beloved saved the day (for now… I hope to be able to finish this blogpost before it breaks down again….) so here’s the photo of my afternoon-desk.

I am working on a spread for week 21 in my Chronicles art journal and you can see that I glued a pocket on the page. I send and received ATC’s for the woyww-anniversary-swap in week 20/21 and the pocket holds the ATC’s I received back… (thanks girls!)

And here’s the spread for week 20 (had not showed it to you yet)

We’re in week 25 right now so yes, you’re right when you see I’m a few weeks behind with this journal. I don’t spend much time in my atelier lately… Temperatures are tropical here in the Netherlands and it’s just too hot to play with paint or markers. When I go in there and sit down for a while, sweat starts to drip on the pages and my hand sticks to the paper when I try to write…

… so most of the time I can be found here:

I finished crocheting the granny square and it lights up the boring lawn chair now. The purple cloth hanging from the clothesline protects my little corner from too much sunshine.

Tomorrow will be another tropical day but the weather forecast predicts it to cool down in the weekend. I hope to visit some desks then!

Thanks for stopping by, have a lovely day,
stay cool!

That’s a lovely corner on your balcony. The crocheted blanket has turned out brilliantly. Love the way you included the picture on your weekly journal. I would never have thought of shaping the picture and journaling round it. Sarah #28

It’s been too hot in the UK as well! I do like your balcony with the lovely crochet blanket and the shade – I’d happily spend a few hours there as well!

It’s just too hot here too. This weather just doesn’t do anything for me and certainly does not encourage crafting. Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x22x

Your little balcony certainly looks like a little haven of happiness! Before we had AC I remember not being able to do much art in the summer because I always dripped all over my work – yuk! I love your journal on your desk, and all those hand-carved stamps – how awesome! Thanks for sharing! Lindart #42

That crochet blanket is gorgeous. It’s been to hot here in Kent too but today is perfect. We are predicted rain!! (Yaaaaay!) and I have been able to put on long sleeves for the first time in ages. (Yaaaaaay!)

Love your desk, you always seem to have such amazing light.

    Apologies for my late visit,
