Goodmorning “woyww-hoppers,” ready for yet another round of ‘desk hopping’ around the world? I know I am! And of course I show you what’s on my desk too this morning.
(What’s On My Workdesk? Wednesday is a weekly blogseries/hop hosted by Julia in the United Kingdom and lots of crafty people share photos of their desks every Wednesday.)
After working on the stenciled folded booklet that I wrote a tutorial about (see guestpost
at Balzer Designs) I had some free time to play in myย ‘Chronicles’ art journal (I will publish those pages later) and to visit the internet/blogs. One thing I came across was a picture of a tiny, little journal and I got so inspired that I decided to make one too. It’s now laying on my desk, along with the other ‘mess’… come on in and see for yourself.

See that tiny little book in the middle of the photo? It’s not finished yet (I still have to alter the cover) but I liked working this small (2.5 x 1.7 inch / 6 x 4,5 cm.) I already folded pages for another ‘tiny journal.’
The inspiration for these came from Roxanne Coble over at By Bun
Not only her post about the mini journals is worth a visit, I looked around on her blog and there’s much more inspiring stuff (she creates beautiful – bigger – art journal pages too.)
Here’s some pages from my tiny journal…
It’s really satisfying to work this small… and, as Roxanne puts it: “the minis are great […] as a place to dump leftover paint or bits of ephemera.” I have the feeling I’m hooked already so I presume you will see quite a lot of them mini’s popping up on my worktable in the next couple of months.
Hope you all have a creative day.
Oh, and when you’re running out of ideas: make a mini!
Hi Marit….happy WOYWW, your mini book is fabulous, love the pages too – I can see how you can use the leftovers from other projects. Cheers and have fun RobynO#51

What a great mini journal. I have one. Hmmm maybe I should make some more.
That small journal is AMAZING! I love it!!!!!
woyww! (as in wowwhee!) I love the little pallette…. you’re so good at this! and is your work space always that organized?! I’m envious and inspired to clean up mine!
I love that tiny journal. I made a couple very small ones myself using jello boxes as covers and phamplet stich for the signatures. It is fun to work in them when you just have a short amount of time to create ๐ Shel#56
Those mini journals are amazing, Marit, and yours looks fantastic too! So very tiny! Surely you need glasses to work on those. Your reminded me of a video that’s been circulating on Google Plus. Perhaps you haven’t seen it yet: http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2015/01/patience-the-inception-of-artist-books-by-randi-parkhurst/ Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #47
Darn, I meant to say “your POST reminded me”
Hi, Marit. The tiny journal is great. ๐ I’ve not done anything in miniature for such a long time. It is fun. Love the pen holder that your son made. That’s a very precious gift. Happy WOYWW.
Your tiny journals are really wonderful!!
Love making miniature books too, and yours is just darling! I think I need to make one as small as that one, mine are small but so far I haven’t made one THAT tiny. ๐
Amazing how lovely you have made such a tiny journal !! Love it ! Ali #20
Well that is tiny…I saw it on Facebook but didn’t really get the proportion! It’s lovely…I love the text on the page in the second photo particularly. From my browse around your desk I note too the beautiful binding on your current art journal…you really are so patient with such things!
Wonderful little journal. I am off to check you the website you recommended.

Wow, Marit. I’m not sure I can work that small. But your tiny book is fantastic and I can see the appeal. Happy WOYWW from #2, because it’s still Wednesday in my world.
Great looking desk as always, Marit and so full of interesting things. I love your box of paints.
Wow, how on earth did you create such wonderful pieces of art in such a tiny book, I don’t think I could see well enough to do that, lol!!
Have a good week.

Hoi Marit, sorry, lange tijd niet gemeld! Ik beloof betering dit jaar!
Lieve groetjes – irma
Such a wonderful minibook, love it!
I love working small, and the idea of using up small snippets of ephemera is a really wonderful idea. I love the way you designed the pages. Thanks for showing us how it’s done!
A few years ago I made a mini as a pendant. I had forgotten all about that but it was really fun. I’ll have to give your idea a try! Thanks!
