Good morning lovely ones, another week gone by and it’s again Wednesday… this day of the week is all about W’s to me: first, there’s What’s On Your Work desk Wednesday (for more info about this fun bloghop, go here) and I added another W to this day – just for me so I won’t forget… it’s also the day I Water my plants. Yup, I need those kind of reminders 😉
My desk shows little activity this morning. I visited my mum and dad yesterday and my atelier stayed untouched… I just put the books I got from my parents on the desk when I got home – to find them there this morning.
Ages ago, I showed you this corner in my atelier: the guest bedrooms. I painted the back of that case lilac, remember? (I published a photo in September.) You had all kinds of ideas on what to do with that lilac back, but I never showed you what I did: I taped some fun prints and art pieces on it ánd a blank sheet of paper and pen-case containing markers – so guests can draw or write something when they feel like it.
Last week, I saw Kathy McCullen published some of her old collages on her Facebook page and I commented that I still have some prints of her work (she send me those back in 2010… wow, time flies!) including this one that is on the back of the case (top left.)
The black-n-white doodle page was made by my brother in 1985. The children’s drawing was made by me and when I look at the way I drew the house and the turtle (I think it’s a turtle but I may have meant to draw a hedgehog or a ladybug) I must have been around four years… And then there’s two more recent collage pieces. Last weekend, my son woke up seeing all this ’cause he came to visit us.
It was so good to have him around for a day – we laughed and talked and after dinner, him and I (or is that ‘me’? Oh, those English ‘rules’…) walked to the store to buy some potato chips which I forgot to buy earlier… Nout has this super-duper phone with a high-tech camera that he used to make a photo of the old town hall that is illuminated at night, and WOW, did that photo come out beautiful!
I found the challenge blog Sketch~N~Scrap that provided this sketch
I used this Sketch N Scrap #173 sketch/challenge to create this layout, using my son’s photo and a photo of the same building that I took in daylight some time ago.
We are in week 12 of this year already, and I am a bit behind in showing you my Chronicles pages… so here’s one spread from a couple of weeks ago
The Chronicles of Marit 2019 – Week 9
I’ll show the other weeks in another post soon, ’cause this blog post is long enough as it is.
Thanks for your visit and see you soon!

Hi Marit, beautiful layout, love the different views of the building in day and night. Great idea on that bookcase, love that you’ve given your guests a way to add to the wall of art! Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #10 X
What a cozy guest corner that looks like! I’d totally fill that white paper before I left…
Lovely work going on here. Hope the rest of your week is good! Happy WOYWW! Glenda#18
Love your art work, the pages are great. I also love the idea of your lilac wall with posters and even a space for guests to contribute – fantastic!

Hi Marit. I like the look of that Atlas and I bet you will find a good use for that. Gorgeous layouts like only you can do, love them. Wishing you a happy week and a lovely woyww, Angela x11x
How fabulous that you had your son for a visit. #2 is visiting us at the moment and I shall miss him when he goes back to Romania i a week and a half. What a great view to wake up to in the guest bedroom. I really like the layout with the contrasting photos of the same building. Happy WOYWW Sarah #4
PS It’s ‘He and I walked’ as you are both the subject of the sentence (your English is 1000 times better than my barely existent Dutch so i wouldn’t worry about the odd slip lol.)
Everytime I see your Chronicles it makes me think that I would like to do something similar as yours are so stunning and interesting – maybe one day I will get round to it. I keep a diary but actually doing something more creative with it would be good. Love the way you have utilised the back of the unit in your room and love the fact that guests can add to the wall of art! Thanks for sharing. Take care and have a lovely week. With love & God Bless. Caro x (#30)
Busy busy – love the idea of the ‘guest wall’. Always good to catch up with family. Happy WOYWW Cindy #15

Awesome that you scrapped two photos of the same building!! Thanks for joining us at Sketch N Scrap.
It’s so lovely to see all the artwork that you have around the walls of your flat – it’s all cheering and happy. I like changing the art in our house and have started putting up my husband’s photographs!
Hugs LLJ 8 xx
Hi Marit, that’s a lovely layout, and the two photos day and night look great. Such a contrast. Always nice to have your son stay I’m sure. Have a lovely week Heather x #32
It’s a great space for your guest to leave art marks or a little message just for you, so nice to wake up with surrounding art and so special to have one of your very early masterpieces amongst them.
I’m sure you will make great use of those books from your parents.
Have a super week & Take care.

Love the way you used the black gems to tie your entire collage together. You have a real gift when it comes to the art of collage. Sketch N Scrap appreciates your participation. Thank you for playing along.
