Goodmorning lovelies! This blogpost is scheduled ’cause as you know, today is a work day for me and I will spend my day at the atelier at the ZEEUWS ARCHIEF. And that, of course, counts as a ‘studio’ and there’s things on my workdesk there as well… I thought you might find it intersting to see a photo of that so I join in for Julia’s What’s On Your Work desk, Wednesday’ to show you my desk.
Here’s a photo of the big work shop, the ‘restoration and conservation studio’ of the Zeeuws Archief.
… and there will probably something like this on my desk:
My job is, to save paper and documents like this from further desintegrating. Ain’t that the most wonderful job for a paper lover like I am?!!
When I get home on Wednesday, my ‘weekend’ starts and since I can’t get enough of paper, I dive into my own little atelier to play with my art journals. Here’s a spread from a couple of weeks ago.
The Chronicles of Marit 2020 – Week 36
This spread is all about Corona and yes, the numbers are increasing rapidly in the Netherlands. I write this post on Sunday afternoon and on Tuesday, there will be another press conference by our prime minister. I expect stricter measures will be announced – I just hope I won’t be send home from my job again because there’s no way I can take those original documents I work with back home with me, so when we all have to go into another lockdown, I will be without a job again… keep your fingers crossed!
I’m still a member of the Dutch Dares design team, a scrapbooking challenge group on Facebook. The challenge for October is Food and Drinks and here’s my take on the theme.
It’s getting difficult to get those layouts done in time because besides my job, I’m also writing and filming tutorials for my new online workshop KRONIEKEN that starts at the end of this year (it will be in Dutch only, sorry.) I committed myself to stay a design team member until December so there’s two more ‘dares’ to go… I think I can do that.
And what are you up to? I hope you are well and healthy still. Thanks for your visit and I hope to pay you, fellow desker, a visit back in the next couple of days to take a peek at your desk and stay in touch. Have a great day, stay safe!
Looks like you are really busy at the moment Marit. You have the perfect job I believe. I do hope you will be able to continue with it. Stay safe and happy WOYWW Sarah #3
Morning Marit – what a fascinating job you have, good to see your official workspace! The numbers are going up here too although where I am in still at the moment, relatively low… hopefully to stay that way. Have a good week and stay safe – and hopefully working! Helen #1
Dang. Dutch only. I wish I had a Babel fish to stick in my ear and translate for me! That page is powerful and I love the layout. It’s been a while since I managed to scrapbook. I miss it.
Stay safe yourself and Happy Woyww.

Yes Maarit, only two more months to go so two more dares, that does make one realise how close Christmas is, I’m hoping to be way ahead this year for a change. Sounds really good to me!
Fascinating your job, how wonderful to be saving manuscripts like that, I pray you won’t be out of a job due to lock down, we are blessed here cos our borders are closed mostly cases are in Melbourne and Sydney none here since April where I live.
Happy WOYWW.
Thanks for sharing, and God bless, Shaz in Oz.x #6

Stay well and safe,
Wow, what an interesting job you have, it must be so rewarding to help conserve beautiful old documents for future generations. Love your Chronicles page and the layout if beautiful – those designs all work so well together and look amazing against the bright pink.
Stay safe and well, and I hope your job is safe too.

Hi Marit, how wonderful to see your work desk at the archive! I don’t know if you ever see the Inspector Montalbano detective series on the TV? There’s a sort of receptionist PC called Catarella who always mixes up his words. He told Montalbano that someone had been killed by being archived (they had been killed IN an archive) so watch out!
I love your coffee scrapbook page
Take care, stay safe and happy WOYWW!

Great to see you Marit. They might well have waited for you to arrive before looking for you to do that job – its perfect. I bet you get a great deal of satisfaction from it..your hand on the future of the country’s history! Love the LO – coffee features in my scrapbook too, it is a necessary and much loved beverage in this house!
What a wonderful job and work room you have. I do hope lockdown doesn’t stop you doing a job you love. x Jo
I’ve had a busy morning…been to the hospital for blood tests, back for a late breakfast and then had to shorten 3 the 3 nurses dresses and a pair of jeans before I could start my blog visits…so here I am a little late today.
What a lovely job you have…I hope lockdown stays away for a long time for you. You are such a busy and creative person.
Stay safe and well.
Hugs,

Happy WOYWW. You have such an interesting job. Would love to be able to sit and watch for a day! Sorry to hear that Covid numbers are increasing in the Netherlands too. I think it is most countries in the world? All very worrying as we go into the winter. My sister returned back to work as a nurse in the last outbreak – and she has been working at a hospice nursing Covid patients who are in the last days/weeks of their lives. A very difficult job, but so worthwhile. She is truly a hero. Our lives here on the farm are very quiet and safe in comparison. Ali x #9
Hi Marit, what a fabulously interesting job to have, I can understand why you love it. To see, and help save, such heritage pieces is truly wonderful. Love the journal pages, and hope you do not have too many restrictions placed on you. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 X
Oh yeah, I would enjoy that job too, Marit! Lucky you! It’s so interesting to see the workshop area! Also interesting to see how your scrapbooking style is so different from your journalling style – both awesome though! Happy Wednesday, hope you’re having a good day at work! xx zsuzsa #20
Hi Marit. It has taken me all morning to pick up my click and collect order, so I am really late (for me) starting to work down the list – sorry! What a wonderful work environment for you – exactly right. Well done. I do hope you get to stay in work during the current rise in cases over there in the Netherlands. Do take care of yourself.
God bless.

I LOVE your workspace!! What an AMAZING job that would be!! Tedious, to be sure, but I think rewarding none the less! And to be a part of preserving history would also be very fulfilling to me!! Your journal spread sends a clear message, even if I don’t understand what it says! I think by the looks of it, it is something we call all identify with 2020 and now a part of history!! I’m not a scrapper, but I love your layout, those papers are yummy! Have a wonderful rest of the week! Blessings, Felicia, #22
Your a busy bee ~ What an interesting job you have! Yes, for those of us who love paper, your job is vital and appreciated. I hope you don’t go into lockdown again, this whole thing is just awful. What a beautiful scrapbook page showing off your love for paper and coffee. Blessings to you ~ Karen#26
Wow! Awesome place to work. Love your work. Take care, hugs, Sue. x #23
Morning Marit, loving the shot of your work studio – wouldn’t it be wonderful to have all tat space! Your job sounds fascinating, I d hope you don’t get sent home again. I think that here in London we will be under tighten restrictions soon as well – must try and get a couple of quick visits in to mum before that happens! (and get my hair done). Thank goodness for a consuming crafty passion – if I didn’t have this I think I would have thrown in the towel ages ago!! Fingers crossed for you, Happy Wednesday, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #21
Your job sounds fascinating, and I really hope you will be able to continue. I love your chronicles page and the scrapbook page is beautiful. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#12)
Sounds like a fabulous job to me, always rewarding to work with something close to your heart. Super corona chronical and layout, I know how time consuming DT work can be, make time for you & stay safe as times get a little tougher. Happy WoywW Tracey #11
Are you allowed to take photographs of your restoration projects for using in your artworks? That would be a fabulous idea. It must be a very difficult job when the paper is already brittle. Quite awesome thinking of the age of these things. happy WOYWW Angela #29
Hi there. I do hope you don’t have to stop working. Your job sounds fascinating. we are under tighter restrictions where I am from today 🙁 Anne x #33
Wow, Marit, what sort of a plum job is that? What a privilege to be handling such rare and beautiful manuscripts for a living, and also to be preserving them for future generations. The studio where you work looks absolutely magnificent. I love your latest journal page – she looks suitably shocked lol! Nice layout too.
Happy WOYWW,
Shoshi #17
My goodness you must be very skilled at your job, and I really hope for your sake that your office doesn’t have to close… although I’m sure you would use the time industriously on your own projects. The ones you show here are awesome! It’s a very strange time in our world isn’t it!
Stay safe and take care.
Oh Wow! Marit, what a brilliant job you lucky lady. Loving the journal pages too. Sorry I’m late this week. I spent so long outside yesterday gardening that I just got behind with the desk visits. I think all we can hope for with the Virus is that they come up with the vaccine. Wishing you a happy belated woyww, Angela x19x
So nice to see your “office”, Marit, and one of the original documents of the kind that you work with. I still have not yet used the wonderful “blotting tissue papers” from your work that you sent to me. In my mind, at least, they are very precious! I do plan to use some of them as elements in some collages but have not done so yet. Love the Covid piece in your journal. I would say it is a good expression of how we all feel during these strange, isolating times! Here, in the US, we are all (many of us, anyway) very nervous about the eventual outcome of our upcoming Presidential election. Right now it feels a lot like we are drifting in a boat with no rudder, that is also taking on water! Three weeks since my surgery, my knee is still swollen but feeling better, and I am able to walk most places using a cane. Hope you are able to continue going to your wonderful job. Best wishes, always!
Thank you for your return visit to my blog last week, Marit – so glad you enjoyed seeing the making of the needle books. I’m getting on well with #3 now.
Hope to see you on this week’s WOYWW.
